Disturbing Footage Reveals Point Law Enforcement Get Knifed in Ambush
One senior officer who rushed to the aid of a colleague that got attacked by a blade-wielder received the King's Commendation for Bravery.
Sergeant Tim Ansell struggled against 27-yr-old Jacob Brown after he held a knife to the throat of his fellow officer Sgt Marc Foster.
Brown launched his attack as the officers and their colleague, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a motorist following a vehicle incident in that location in mid-2023.
Brown knifed and cut both Sgt Ansell and Sergeant Foster before Police Constable Wolstencroft stopped him with a stun gun.
"Officer stabbed," the officer could be heard saying over his radio.
Officer-mounted and dashboard camera recording shared by the agency depicted Brown, that was clothed in dark clothing with a hood up, rush to Sergeant Foster from behind with a blade extended.
He struck the officer who stumbled and fell to the ground, before Sgt Ansell stepped in and attempted to subdue him to the floor even though being repeatedly struck with the blade.
Police Constable Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and awaited a safe opportunity, ending the struggle to an finish.
Sgt Ansell stated audibly: "I need help on my neck now, I got knifed in the throat."
Sergeant Ansell suffered multiple lacerations to his neck and additional cuts to his arms and torso, while Sergeant Foster suffered knife wounds.
Officials stated Sergeant Foster employed his hands to control his colleague's hemorrhaging prior to emergency responders came.
The latest recognition comes after the law enforcement team were granted departmental Courage Honors in fall 2023 and the prestigious bravery honor from the area union branch in April 2024.
They further earned a North West Courage Honor in summer 2024.
"The efforts of all three officers ultimately protected each other and resulted in no bystanders experienced any harm."
Brown was given to an secure medical confinement in spring 2024, per the department.
