2K Hires Popular Battle Royale Developer to Rescue Troubled Hero Shooter Ambitious Title
2K Games has appointed a seasoned producer from the creators of Apex Legends to direct the development team at 31st Union, which is currently working on the anticipated over-the-shoulder action-packed title known as this innovative game.
Leadership Change Comes After Poor Reception

Recently, 2K president a key figure notified staff about this strategic move through an official communication, which highlighted that playtesting had revealed the need for a clearer game identity.
Ismailer stated that the developers is now overhauling the project with a renewed vision, aiming to address player expectations.
Trend of Strategic Hires
The news follows a comparable step taken by 2K Games in the summer, when they brought on Rod Fergusson from the Diablo team to assist with the beloved franchise studio Cloud Chamber.
Below is the complete text from the president's announcement:
Dear Team—
I understand you all just finished your town hall - I hope you’re as excited as I am with the recent updates. Last time I sent you all a update, I expressed the following: “I believe in this crew. You all are some of the most driven and innovative developers we have had the opportunity to collaborate with - and we’re eager for that relationship to endure.”
With your dedication and versatility, especially over the last year, you continue to prove that.
The community feedback from last autumn’s the game demo was informative. It confirmed the appeal of a roguelike shooter but indicated we still had work to do. It uncovered the need for a clearer brand.
The progress is encouraging to see how far you’ve advanced. You embraced the input to heart and revamped the title with a refreshed vision - one that’s ready to achieve its potential to our fans.
Our confidence in this project increases every day. To boost the outstanding progress you’ve made, It is a pleasure to announce the new hire as the incoming Director of the team. After a period of discussions, Ben officially joins us on next week.
Ben’s guidance and expertise in the PVP shooter field is extensive, having dedicated the past decade and a half producing and leading some of the most well-known titles in the industry, including Call of Duty: Black Ops, and most recently, Apex Legends.
Please join me in greeting Ben soon. We are all excited to keep observing the evolution of Project ETHOS in the weeks to come.
